We had a little family vacation in Paris (for 5 days), and to say the least, frequent stops in playgrounds are required with young children! That's why we chose the garden of the Palais du Luxembourg (where the french Senat is) to spend one afternoon.

It's beautiful park with a pond, green lawns for lounging, trees for much needed shadows on hot days, playground and other activities for children, etc. The only down: you have to pay for every kids games. For the playground too, with toboggans, sand ponds and other great acrobatic ustensils it wasn't free: 2,50€/kid and 1,20€/adult... I think it's a shame that they make the parents pay, because the kids can't be alone in it! Luckily for the Paris inhabitants, there's an annual pass!

The pond and the small boats...
Sophie would have loved to catch one. And Mommy didn't want for her to fall in the water...

Park map. It's so enjoyable to have green patches in the middle of Paris.

Everytime I feel like an UFO landed here, so that its occupants could have a stroll...

Mon fils refusait de lever les yeux. "Il y a trop de soleil, maman!"
My son refused to look at me. "There's too much sun, mom!"

C'est l'heure du goûter! Mmm... les madeleines!
Time for a snack! Mmm... some madeleines!

So here's the playground I told you about. The children enjoyed all the games proposed.

Escalade sur le toit d'un train.
Climbing on a train's roof.
Conduite en marche arrière???
Driving backwards???
Cascades sur un train...
Stunts on a train...
She's 26 months old and she's a real boss at climbing ladders (wood or rope)!
She tried all the toboggans authorized for her age.

Elle ne s'en lassait pas!
She wasn't tired of it!

Sneak peek at the playground. The ones in green in the background are for children older than 6. Of course, Gabriel was there most of the time (reminder, he's nearly 5 and a half).

We had to go out of the park at one point, and it wasn't an easy task. None of them wanted to leave the game zone. However, we succeed in making them come with us (to drag them, pitiless) and we left after a small walk in the park's paths.

Statues of Queens and Regentes of France ornate the main court of the park.
Marie de Médicis was in renovation, so an ingenious system has been created to protect it when no one works on it: on metallic rods, paper cones have ben glued. It looks like a coat made of coral.

  3. What a lovely stroll around the Jardin du Luxembourg, I love this park! My boys have enjoyed sailing boats here over the years and the playpark too, but just like you I think it's a shame that it's not free. (And a scandal that adults have to pay too as the child can't go alone). Thanks for linking up to #AllAboutFrance!

    1. Yep, making the adults pay is ridiculous... That's what my husband dislikes. Not the fact the kids have to pay, they have to maintain the playground in good shape (and it's all operational, no games broken or so old you don't know if they will live another day...), but the adults! grr...
