Une histoire de pompiers / A firemen story

Pompiers volontaires de la ville d'Oberursel
Volunteer Firefighter of the Oberursel's town

Yesterday afternoon, a fire started in a building in work in the street behind our home. Many technical help (police, samu, firefighters) had been deployed to secure the area and extinguish the start of fire. Being in the middle of the twon, in a busy street and in a building half wrecked (hence good propagation), it could have made a few damage. Luckily, the firefighters managed quickly the flame.

While the relief supplies begun to put everuthing back in their cars, I watched them with the children. Gabriel was admiring the lorry with the large-scale (the same as above) and I explained him what were the objects stored in the lockers. A firefighter arroached and asked if Gabriel wanted to see more. In german, of course. Gabriel did his shy-self while I translated. The firefighter continued as if nothing was different then with a german kid and opened the other cupboards and let me explain to my son what were their ustensils before closing all the cupboards of the lorry. Then, he opened the passenger door, took Gabriel in his arms and sat him on the seat. Gabriel was very intimidated to be in the red lorry.  When the firefighter made the sign "Alles gut" (everything's ok) with his thumbs up, my son understood and answered by holding his own up. Back down, he was all smile and his eyes were bright. I thanked the nice man and we finished our shopping.

So now, it's impossible to forget this year to buy a calendar from the firefighters' city. Even they wouldn't come in our buiding, I think Gabriel would ask me to pick one at the firehouse. Well... do they make calendars the german firefighters?

Update: Gabriel had the joy to have some firemen visiting his Kindergarten in February 2015, that being part of the programm for the kids in their last year. He will soon go visit the fire station.
