Première séance de cinéma en Allemagne / First theatre in Germany

Gabriel was asking me to go on a movie trip for the release of the "Christmas' Disney"... Since he watched the trailer and some ads on the TV, he was crazy about it. It's true that "Frozen" seemed to be a well-done movie.

In fact, the movie was great. Even if it was in german, Gabriel was gluded to the screen. 3D glasses on his nose, he was quite and collected. Well, not so much during the funny moments, but it was OK. We were in a family theatre: lots of children, candy bags, shouts, laughters and comments... I would like to invite you to go see it with your kids, the two sisters (main protagonists) have really interesting personnalities and stories.

The subject of this blog post is not so much the choice of our movie than my opinion on the movie theatre in question. Oh, it was clean, with some space to strech the legs and a good "Dolby Surround Sound". No, what had me riled up was:

They didn't accept credit card! Only cash!  I was there, in front of the cashier with Gabriel who was patiently waiting (for once!), ten minutes before the session, and I couldn't understand how a theatre so attended (in the center of Francfort, with many rooms and family oriented) could refuse credit cards. I think I have asked him "You're joking right?". He looked at me quite sheepishly and answered me that "No, we don't have the machine..." I was rather edgy when I stormed out of the theatre with Gabriel tailing me to look for a cash vending machine.

It's not indicated on the informativ board at the entrance of the movie theatre that we can only pay in cash. I suppose that I'm not the only one that have been "startled"...

The cash machine that was the nearest wanted to charge me 3,84€ because I had a Commerzbank card and  not a Naspa one... (I will talk about german banks another day). And when I tried to use my french Visa Card, that usualy is accepted by every machine (and the Visa logo was visible!!!) and doesn't charge me to withdraw money, the dear automat showed me a nice text saying that my card type is not accepted. People around me who were patiently waiting to take some money, steped back a little when they heard me roar like a lioness.

I had to call Jonathan who was strolling in Frankfurt streets with Sophie, looking at the Christmas market. He had a 20€ banknote AND he was still just a street away. I was able to pay for our movie at the last minute.

The man checking the tickets at the entrance of the movie room asked me if I wanted a children-seat for Gabriel and I told him that "Yes, it could be useful." And then, bam! he told me it will be 2€. No way! I gave him a crisp smile and a frown: "No thanks. We will do without." I have never seen that in France, the kids seats are free and at disposition at the entrance of every room where a kid movie is played (well, yeah, the parents love them too).

Once we were in our seats, 3D glasses on our noses, I calmed myself. Gabriel was happy to be there. For a moment I have told him that the movie would be for another time and he had begun to cry. One thing is for sure, next time I go to the cinema, I will have my wallet full of money.
