How osteopathy helped my kids / Comment l’ostéopathie a aidé mes enfants [Ultimate Guide to Baby's First Year]

(source: wikipedia)

Osteopathy: Osteopathy is a type of complementary and alternative medicine. Its practitioners claim that the wellbeing of an individual depends on their bones, muscles, ligaments and connective tissue functioning smoothly together. Osteopaths receive special training in the musculoskeletal system. They believe that their treatments, which primarily consist of moving, stretching and massaging a person’s muscles and joints, help allow the body to heal itself. (source: wikipedia)

After the birth of my son, I needed to go see my osteopath so that he can help me with the pains in the pelvis area and in the spine I endured. I wished to regain a more "ergonomic" posture. To put it bluntly, I was a mop on the floor and I hurt everywhere. At that time, Gabriel had, for his part, RGO issues and colic. His sleep was also fragmented.

It was impossible to let him sleep flat on his back. We had to surelevate him
with a pillow placed in his crib, so that he does not regurgitate or have colic.
He was more or less in a semi-sitting position.
After the osteopathy sessions, put him to bed was less problematic...

When I went to my appointment, my osteopath pointed out that he could help my son too. I was so happy to know the torments of my angel would be soon past history! Mine too, because in two sessions, I was healed and I was able to move with ease.

Two days later, I came back at his office with Gabriel. The practioner has been so gentle with him, and like his mom, in two seances, no more problems of colics, his RGO dimished and he slept more equitabily on his his two sides.

When my daughter was born, I took an appointment for her asap. Her digestion improved after the first session. As much as my son did, she had a favorite side to sleep. Without the intervention of the osteopath she could have had a dissymetric development of her brain...

I exhort all new parents to take two appointments at a local osteopath (if you already know one, it's better):
* one for the mother who greatly need it!
* one for the baby to verify that all his/her vital fonctions are operational and don't bother him/her (colic, pelvis moved, vertebra pinching a nerve, etc)

  1. How wonderful! I have gone to chiropractors all my life with similar results. Do you know what the difference is between chiropractors and osteopaths?

    1. well, I was wondering the same. It seems that the biggest differences are in the technics (different schools/theories) used and also the fact that chiropractors in some countries can deliver ordinances for more analysis. In France, osteopaths "pure" (who are not also MD) can't do that. They are not recognize by the general health insurance as "health professionnals" (my wording) because they have a "Diplôme d'Ecole" (diploma from a school) and not a "Diplôme d'Etat" (diploma from the State). This situation is quite tricky. And also chiropractors are less know in France where ostheopathy was developed (and in the UK too).

    A bientôt
